STUTTERING

Preschoolers, generally between 3 to 5 years of age, may start stammering.

The cause in a large majority of the cases is the neurotic attitude of the mother.

It is an indication of a conflict in child's personality. No treatment is generally needed.

If stuttering persists, breath-control exercises and miniaturized metronome that is of value in pacing the rhythm of speech need to be resorted to under care of a speech therapist.
